Tarbox Family | Boise Family Photography

This session was so much fun to do! Some of my favorite elements all came together for this shoot: a lovely family, a fun new location, and beautiful fall colors. I met the Tarbox family out at Reid Merrill Park in Eagle, which is right next to the greenbelt, and we traipsed around the area snapping pictures.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Frendt Family | Boise Family Photography

Fall is my favorite time of year, hands down. As the weather finally starts to cool off after a scorching summer and the leaves begin to change I love grabbing my camera and heading outside. I met Kevin, Jenn, and my sweet nephew Blake for a few family pictures at Kathryn Albertson Park. Some of you may know that this park is one of my favorite spots in Boise to shoot family portrait sessions, especially this time of year!

I always enjoy taking pictures of this little family and am continually thankful that I get to live nearby!

Levi’s Cake Smash | Boise Family Photography

I had been waiting for the call all day. I knew that my sister and her husband had gone in for the ultrasound and would find out the gender of their little growing baby. When my phone finally rang, I answered immediately and squealed, “I knew it!!!” when Jenn revealed that they would be having a boy. But then she paused and her voice faltered. She explained that the ultrasound technician had found a couple things they wanted to investigate but from the initial reading it looked like the baby would be born with a cleft lip and palate, along with a couple other worrying possibilities. Our family prayed through another ultrasound, this time in 3D, and were relieved to learn that Levi would only have the cleft lip and palate but was otherwise healthy. I remember telling Jenn and Darius that their baby boy couldn’t be born into a more loving and supporting family!

This little guy? Oh man. He is adorable! I had the privilege of living with Jenn and Darius when he was born, so I got to be around him (and hold him!) a lot. He is just the happiest little dude and his whole face just lights up when he sees his family. I have been looking forward to this cake smash session from the time he was born!

He wasn’t quite sure what to do at first… so he just kept poking at the cupcake.

Then he finally tasted the frosting… yum!

Elliot | Boise Newborn Photography

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains pictures of an adorable baby boy!

I never expected to jump on board the baby train as soon as I did. Before Andrew and I were married, I always thought I’d want to wait 2 or 3 or 5 years before having kids. But a year into marriage, suddenly the thought of having a baby wasn’t quite so scary… and soon I had a longing to hold a sweet little one in my arms that was part me and part Andrew. Last April, Andrew and I finally got to meet our sweet baby boy. It still amazes me how in that moment when I first held Elliot my heart expanded 100 percent and I realized that I’d never loved anyone so much at the moment I first met them.

Being a mom is awesome! Even on the harder days when he just doesn’t want to sleep, or I’ve changed his outfit (and mine) 8 times, or I don’t get a shower until Andrew gets home, there is nothing that compares to Elliot’s smile when he looks up at me, or the sound of his little breaths when he falls asleep in my arms, or watching with pride when he learns something new.

One of the perks of being a mom AND a photographer is that I get to take pictures of a cute baby whenever I want… yaaaaay! A couple of weeks ago Elliot was in a great mood and so I whipped out my camera and took some pictures. Though I took a ton of photos, I figured that posting 80 pictures of him on my blog would be a wee bit excessive, so I whittled my selections down to my absolute favorites:

I laugh every time I see this picture. This kid knows how to pose for me already!

I bought this little newsie hat for Elliot when I was still pregnant, so I was really excited to use it for these pictures.

Love you my little Elliot!

Megan | Boise Portrait Photography

One of the many blessings I’ve been given in life is to have lasting friendships with some amazing people. I’ve known Megan for over 20 years… wow! Crazy! My first memory of her is from when I was around 8 or 9, and I remember that one Sunday at church we were wearing the same dress. Megan is a few years older than I, and I remember thinking it was just SO COOL that we were matching! Though we knew of each other for a long time, it wasn’t really until high school that we became great friends. I have very fond memories of playing pranks on the boys in our youth group and laughing until our sides hurt.

I also vividly remember the day that my family and I moved to Singapore. Megan, along with several other friends, came to the airport to see us off. As we started to board, I began crying… it felt like my world was ending. As I scanned my ticket and walked down the ramp, I turned back one more time. Megan was there, and I remember that she was crying too… and she just mouthed “love you.” Of course that made me cry harder! The rest of the passengers on the airplane must of thought I was ridiculous. But whatever.

Even though I wasn’t in Boise consistently after that move for about 13 years, Megan and I were still able to keep our friendship going. Every time I was back for a visit we’d pick right up where we’d left off. Megan was even able to come down to California and be in my wedding! And of course, one of the best parts about moving back to Boise last year was that I get to see my dear friend all the time.

I had SO much fun doing this session with Megan. She’s so beautiful! We went to Kathryn Albertson Park, which is one of my favorite spots in Boise for portraits. Here are a few of my favorites:

I love making this girl laugh!

Though we took a lot of “serious” pictures… I love the silly ones too:)
